"The rifle, invented in the 15th cent., is a firearm with a grooved, or rifled, bore that imparts a spinning motion to the bullet, giving it greater accuracy. Because of its slow rate of fire and its manufacturing cost, the rifle remained relatively unused as a military weapon in Europe. Between 1401 to 1500 the first rifle was invented.It was different than the musket because it made the bullet spin once it exits the barrel. Rifles were used the most in the eastern united states and weren't used in the European army until the 19th century because of how slow they fired.
